An "Illuminati agent" messaged you

Unsolicited messages from a "grand master" or "recruitment agent" on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or by email are a fraud script, not an invitation. Nobody recruits strangers into a secret society by direct message.

How to check the account

• The account was created recently and has few real interactions.
• The profile photos appear elsewhere online under different names.
• The same message wording has been sent to many other people.
• You are pushed onto WhatsApp or Telegram quickly, away from the platform.
• There is a title — grand master, high priest, agent, temple guardian — but never a verifiable name or address.
• Money, a car or a house is promised for a payment you make first.

What to never send

• Never send money by e-transfer, gift card, cryptocurrency or wire.
• Never send a photo of your driver's licence, passport, PR card or SIN.
• Never share banking logins, card numbers or verification codes.
• Never send intimate photos or videos — these are used for blackmail.
• Never recruit friends or family to cover a fee for you.

If they threaten you

Curses, spiritual threats and blackmail are pressure tactics used when payments stop. Stop replying, keep the messages as evidence, and report them. If you feel unsafe, call 911; otherwise contact your local police and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
